Mostly Recipes runs in your browser and keeps your cookbook on your device. Here’s how to add it to your home screen, and every way to import a recipe.
Installing adds Mostly Recipes to your home screen or dock and opens it straight to your recipes, in its own window. There’s nothing to download from an app store. If your browser doesn’t offer to install it, Mostly Recipes works the same in a regular tab.
In your library, choose Add, then pick where the recipe is coming from. You can also press Ctrl+I, or paste a recipe link straight onto the library page.

Take or choose up to 4 photos of one recipe, in reading order: a recipe card, a cookbook page, or a clipping. Photos import while Mostly Recipes is open, and wait if you go offline.
Needs a Mostly Account
Paste the recipe’s title, ingredients, and steps, from an email or a note, for example. Add the original link if you have one, and it’s saved with the recipe.
Needs a Mostly Account
Paste a link to one video, including Shorts. Mostly Recipes reads the video’s title and description, not its audio. When the description links to a written recipe, that page is imported, and Chef AI steps in only when it can’t be.

Guests can import from links and the Recipe Clipper. A Mostly Account adds the Chef AI imports, paid with Mostly AI Credits. Mostly+ includes a monthly Chef AI allowance and higher limits.
| Limit | Guest | Mostly Account | Mostly+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recipes you can keep | 5 | 250 | 10,000 |
| Link, YouTube, and shared imports a day | 5 | 25 | 100 |
| Chef AI imports | Not available | With Mostly AI Credits | 10 a month included, then credits |
The message in the import window says what went wrong. Here’s what to try for the common ones.
Some publishers don’t allow their recipes to be fetched from a link, and the import window tells you as soon as you paste one. Use the Recipe Clipper on the recipe page instead, or copy the recipe and import it from text.
Check that the link opens the recipe itself. Pages behind a sign-in or paywall can’t be read. You can still copy the recipe and import it from text.
Recipes in YouTube videos import with From YouTube, which reads the recipe from the video’s description. It needs a Mostly Account.
Link, YouTube, and shared imports count toward a daily limit of 25, or 100 with Mostly+. Failed imports don’t count, and the limit resets daily. Text and photo imports don’t count toward it.
Delete recipes you no longer need, or move up a level: guests can create a Mostly Account, and accounts can upgrade.
Each Chef AI import costs 1 Mostly AI Credit once any monthly Mostly+ allowance is used. You’re charged only when Chef AI finds a recipe. If it can’t, nothing is saved and nothing is charged.
Your browser can’t open that file type, often HEIC photos outside Safari. Convert the photo to JPEG, or take it with the Take photo button.
Link, text, and YouTube imports need a connection. Photo imports you’ve already added wait and continue when you’re back online.
Each import sends only what it needs to read the recipe.
Links
Our server fetches the page you linked to and reads the recipe from it.
Chef AI
Pasted text, photos, and YouTube descriptions go to our AI provider only to read the recipe. Photos are resized on your device first, which removes their location data, and they aren’t saved.
YouTube
The video’s title and description come from YouTube.
